Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) September 17, 2013
NC State Athletics and its multimedia rights partner, Wolfpack Sports Properties, will host the inaugural Ag Day on September 28, paying tribute to a significant statewide industry. The event will coincide with the football contest against Central Michigan at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Along with the NC State College of Agriculture & Life Sciences and eight corporate sponsors, Ag Day will create a comprehensive game day experience including themed activities, interactive Fan Zone displays, on-field presentations, in-game signage, quarterly videoboard segments featuring North Carolina farmers, and machinery and truck displays courtesy of Case IH, Kioti and RAM Trucks. In addition, 200 discounted game tickets are being provided to FFA and 4-H members around the state.
Honoring this sector collectively in promotion of Ag Day are presenting sponsors Kioti, RAM Trucks, BASF, and Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina, alongside supporting sponsors: North Carolina Soybean Producers Association, Case IH, Whole Foods Market, North Carolina Pork Council and NC State College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
An Ag Day-game day at NC State will be a tremendous opportunity for our campus community, student-athletes and administrators to help promote the importance and impact of agriculture in North Carolina, said Richard Linton, Dean, NC State College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS). As a land-grant institution, NC State is a peoples university, and we have the distinct privilege and mission of serving the educational needs of people in their home states. At CALS, we are equipped to accomplish that in preparing future leaders graduating from NC State.
"We are excited to host a celebration of agriculture in the state of North Carolina around our game versus Central Michigan, said first-year Head Football Coach Dave Doeren. The members of the agriculture industry work in a variety of ways to improve the health and economy of North Carolina, and theyre another reason we are proud that this is our state."
Linton added that Ag Day will help bring attention to an industry that generated $77 billion in 2012. North Carolinas agriculture/agribusiness industry is one of the most diverse in the nation and accounts for 642,000 or 17 percent of the states 3.8 million jobs. It remains a major driving force of the states economy and will continue to be an essential part of North Carolinas future, said Linton. Were extremely grateful to these sponsors for stepping up and making an additional commitment to what is an invaluable industry and what we anticipate will be a terrific Ag Day on September 28.
