Screenflow Professional Screencasting Studio

screen recording software for the Mac

By David Basulto

Once again I am reminded there is a God. Ever since I began using my MacPro to do demos, reviews, and tutorials I have been missing my beloved screen recording software that is on my PC called Camtasia. Camtasia allowed me to do quite a bit of customization for any screen captures I did on the PC. The bad news was TechSmith has been taking its time incorporating Camtasia on the Mac. Finally my prayers were answered; the program is called Screenflow.

As I began doing my work with another screen capture application on the Mac, there always seemed to be a lot missing. No capability to call out moves of my cursor. Complicated user interfaces. Gigantic render files.

I received some very complementary emails on the tutorials, however they always ended with "they would be better IF you zoomed in." Sure but that meant another step of importing into my NLE to do that. I just wanted to do my lesson and hand it out. Lazy? No. Time is money.

Thankfully I found a great new capture software called Screenflow. Screenflow is sold from the fine folks at Flip4Mac.com, whose applications I use to convert video to WMV files. I knew they could be trusted. The software is highly customizable and very inexpensive at $99.

I have to give Screenflow 5/5 stars for its simplicity, customizability, and price. This is my new go to screen capture application. Download a demo at http://www.flip4mac.com/screenflow_download.htm.

Enjoy the following video.
