Bill Gates, Yo Yo Ma, Geena Davis among guests on new talk show from CCTV America

WASHINGTON, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- It is a unique weekly series focusing on film, culture, big names and the causes they embrace.Saturday, April 12th at 8pm U.S. Eastern time, CCTV America debuts Full Frame opening the lens each week on a variety of important issues introduced by prominent personalities.

In episode one, host Mike Walter sits down with Microsoft founder Bill Gates to discuss the wide ranging global work of the Gates Foundation.

"I feel very lucky and a sense of responsibility," Gates tells Full Frame. "My wife Melinda and I, will be dedicated to the Foundation for the rest of our lives."

The program looks at some of the causes embraced by Gates:malaria and polio eradication. Full Frame also examines the debate over the safety of infant vaccinations; a discussion heard more in the developed rather than the developing world.

On April 19th, Full Frame profiles cellist Yo Yo Ma. The famed musician outlines his philosophy of 'passion driven' education. The program then explores art and music and links to gains in cognitive ability, critical thinking, and university test scores.

Later in the series, Academy Award-winning actor Geena Davis discusses distorted images of women in film and television; former world champion boxer 'Sugar' Ray Leonard speaks of combating a new epidemic: diabetes; and philanthropist Howard Buffett outlines his vision for eradicating hunger.

Full Frame is a production of the American division of China Central Television and is recorded at the studios of KCET public television in Burbank, California.

The program airs around the world each weekend on the CCTV News channel reaching more than 100 million households.

In the United States, CCTV News is seen on DISH Network Channel 279.

It airs in the Washington D.C. area on Comcast 273, Cox 472, RCN 32, Verizon FiOS 458 and MHZdigital broadcast channel 30.3. Viewers in New York can watch on Time Warner 134 and FiOS 277. In Los Angeles, on Time Warner 155 and Charter 562. Check local listings in other regions.
