April 03, 2014 --
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 03, 2014
ONE World Sports today announced a major programming acquisition, securing multiyear, multiplatform North American rights to carry every home match of the England national cricket team through 2017. The rights have been acquired through digital sports media company PERFORM.
The bold programming move adds 600 hours of exclusive and live content to the networks current offering of world-class sporting events from around the globe. The matches will be telecast live on the networks linear channel and across all ONE World Sports digital platforms, including its Watch ONE World Sports app.
We are thrilled to add these Internationals from England showcasing some of the best cricket in the world, said Alexander Sandy Brown, president and CEO of ONE World Sports. Cricket is one of the worlds most polarizing sports, and it doesnt get any better than the ECB.
The agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board Ltd. (ECB) covers test, one-day and Twenty20 (T20) matches played in England over the next four years. Englands national team is historically one of the most competitive teams in the world.
Cricket fans are known for their passion and engagement. Overseas TV viewership regularly runs into hundreds of millions for big games between rival countries, and there are 85 million Facebook fans of cricket worldwide.
ONE World Sports ECB coverage will start with a T20 match between England and Sri Lanka on May 20, followed by One-Day International Series and Test Series through the end of June. England then faces a major rival, India, beginning July 9 and running through September. In subsequent years, ONE World Sports will showcase other dominant cricket competitions, including Australia, Pakistan and South Africa.
Games will presented live and all will be offered in high definition.
