SKY Perfect JSAT Selects Kratos for Command & Control System for JCSAT-14 Satellite
February 07, 2014 --
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its Kratos Integral Systems International (Kratos ISI) business unit has been awarded a contract by SKY Perfect JSAT to upgrade its EPOCH IPS satellite fleet management system to support its JCSAT-14 satellite, scheduled for launch in 2015.
SKY Perfect JSAT has used EPOCH IPS for more than 10 years to operate its satellite fleet, which includes N-STARc, an Orbital STAR 2 satellite, and its JCSAT-9, -10, -12, -13 and NSAT110 satellites, all LM A2100 satellites. With the addition of JCSAT-14, which is a Loral 1300 satellite, SKY Perfect JSAT will take advantage of EPOCH IPS's ability to seamlessly operate satellites from different manufacturers in a single integrated system. EPOCH IPS supports satellite designs from every major commercial satellite manufacturer, allowing SKY Perfect JSAT maximum flexibility as it expands its fleet to provide a broader range of services to customers.
"We are pleased to have selected Kratos ISI's EPOCH IPS for JCSAT-14 to facilitate the integration of our satellite control systems. We are confident that it will enhance the efficiency and flexibility of our satellite fleet operations and Kratos ISI will fulfill our expectations," said Noriko Masuda, General Manager, Satellite Operations Division of SKY Perfect JSAT.
"This is the seventh satellite ground system contract that Kratos ISI has received from SKY Perfect JSAT, further solidifying the partnership between the two companies. We appreciate the trust they continue to demonstrate in Kratos ISI, and we value the long-term relationship that our two companies have built," said James Kramer, Senior Vice President at Kratos ISI. "By selecting Kratos ISI and EPOCH IPS, SKY Perfect JSAT will be able to safely and efficiently integrate the JCSAT-14 satellite into their ongoing operations in a cost-effective manner."
As an all-in-one satellite command and control and fleet management system operable right from a user's desktop, EPOCH IPS presents a more efficient, economical alternative to costly stove-piped command and monitoring practices. For 30 years, Kratos ISI has been the leading provider of satellite control systems, supporting approximately 300 missions. Kratos ISI offers turnkey ground segments solutions encompassing C2, RF/IF equipment, satellite and terrestrial communications signal monitoring systems, equipment and network management and payload management solutions. The company's EPOCH IPS is the most widely used C2 solution, with successful installations on five continents. Commercial clients include AsiaSat, Asia Broadcast Satellite, Broadcasting Satellite System Corporation (B-SAT), Chunghwa Telecom, EchoStar, Hellas Sat, Indovision, Intelsat, KT Corporation, PT Telkom, SatMex, SES, SingTel/Optus, SKY Perfect JSAT, Thaicom, and Telesat.
