WCPE Music Director William Woltz announces a weekend-long extravaganza celebrating Great Classical Music of the Russian Romantics, January 1819, 2014. Well celebrate with favorites from Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff and others, anchored by the Met Opera broadcast of Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin on January 18 at 1:00 p.m. ET. On Saturday you may request your favorite composers here.

The Mighty Handful was a group of five 19th-century Russian composers who wrote music steeped in the distinctive traditions of their homeland, says Woltz.
