October 30, 2013 --
BANDON DUNES, OR--(Marketwired - October 30, 2013) - Oomba.tv, the sports broadcasting division of Oomba, Inc., successfully produced and webcast the inaugural live streaming video coverage of the Speedgolf World Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort last weekend. The event, which was sponsored by Rolex and Swiftwick and hosted by Scott Braun of MLB Network, took place at the Old Macdonald and Bandon Dunes Courses on October 26thand 27th.
The tournament featured 24 top speedgolf athletes from around the world.Speedgolfers run between golf shots on a standard 18-hole course, the goal being to shoot the lowest score in the shortest amount of time.A Speedgolf score is the combination of golf score and the total time it takes to complete 18 holes.Rob Hogan won the tournament with a final score of 236.55,setting a new record on the Old Macdonald Course on day one in the process with a score of 77 in 39 minutes, 31 seconds.
The tournament presented unique challenges for Oomba as they had to wirelessly blanket the two courses with a strong enough WiFi signal to generate high definition quality video in real time.Additionally, Oomba took it upon themselves to create and provide live scorekeeping and timekeeping applications to further enhance the event.
With just over 200,000 unique viewers around the globe and 12,880 Oomba accounts created as a result, Oomba CEO, Michael Williams was very pleased with the results of their first webcast of this kind."We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with the Speedgolf World Championship. This was a great event at a prestigious location and I was impressed by the caliber of the athletes involved. We look forward to supporting Speedgolf as it continues to grow in popularity," Mr. Williams said.
Oomba.tv's next major webcast event will be the EA Sports Maui Invitational Basketball Tournament held from November 25th-27th.
