Tips on How to Make Your Theatre a Success in 2013

March 06, 2013 --

Melbourne (PRWEB) March 06, 2013

According to the leading theatre equipment supplier, there are several things theatres can do to ensure 2013 will be a successful year.

The theatre industry is continually changing and 2012 saw some significant advances in stage technology. In order to stay competitive, there are some simple technologies you should consider introducing to your theatre over the next twelve months, said Grant Gaylor, Sales and Project Coordinator at Specialty Theatre.

Specialty Theatre has provided the following tips on how to make theatres a success in 2013:

1. Implement captioning technology. Given the fact that 1 out of every 6 Australians has hearing loss and in excess of 600,000 Australians are blind or partially sighted, thats a lot of people who have limited access to theatre productions. Good acoustics only go so far, so captioning and providing audio descriptions is the logical solution.
2. Use the latest audio visual technology. One of the most rapidly growing trends in theatre last year was the use of AV in performances. Projected images are a great way to complement stage sets. Illusions of motion, landscapes and distance that would otherwise be too difficult or too expensive to create can be easily incorporated into modern productions by projecting them onto stage screens or cycloramas.
3. Stream live theatre. Weve been streaming music, movies and television to our personal computers in our own homes for quite some time now, so why not do the same for stage performances? Its a great alternative for people who would otherwise not be exposed to the theatre, and its a fantastic way for directors, writers and performers to get their productions out to a wider audience.
