Local Fire Department Enters the Digital World to Recruit Volunteer Firefighters and Keep the Community Safe

A few years ago, the Broomall Fire Company embarked on an advertising campaign to inform Marple Township residents of their services and the need to increase the number of volunteer firefighters. In a world of digital information and streaming news, they wanted to be on the cutting edge with high quality graphic displays to catch the attention of their target audience. With the station situated on a major artery between Philadelphia and its western suburbs; its an ideal location to display Recruitment & Retention messages to thousands of people a day. To effectively deliver these messages, they elected to replace their antiquated hand-changed message board with a computer controlled full color outdoor LED sign.

The Broomall Fire Company (BFC or Company 53) was established on Jan 8, 1923 by a group of twenty-six men whose sole purpose was to establish fire protection for the growing Marple Township community. Today, BFC serves well over 24,000 citizens and protects an area of approximately 11 square miles, including a large stretch of Interstate 476. It is staffed by over 90 members with approximately 45 men and women who are active firefighters. Their entire membership is 100% volunteer.

Jim Capuzzi, president of the Broomall Fire Department stated, This sign will enable us to continually update and refresh our R & R message as well as deliver targeted messages based on the demographics of the passing public.

He adds, The colors and graphics are amazing and we have received numerous compliments. The software was easy to master and the LED sign has already attracted new members.
