iQIYI Expands Global Footprint with Extensive International Distribution of Historical Costume Drama "Story of Yanxi Palace"

The hit drama is now available to audiences in over 70 territories across the globe, making it one of the most widely distributed China-produced historical costume dramas ever made.

A Qing dynasty tale of revenge and romance set in the Forbidden City, "Story of Yanxi Palace" has been a sensation this year, keeping audiences across China hooked with its engaging plot and strong female characters.



Leading Hong Kong television broadcasting company TVB has recently acquired distribution rights for the show in Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore and Malaysia. As a result, TVB is currently airing episodes of "Story of Yanxi Palace" in an evening prime-time spot on its TVB Jade terrestrial TV channel in both Hong Kong and Macao. "Story of Yanxi Palace" is the second Mainland Chinese TV series to be awarded the distinction of a prime-time spot on TVB, following last year's "Legend of the Condor Heroes" which was also produced by iQIYI, in partnership with Perfect World.

Further broadcasting agreements with partners such as AsiaN TV, Gala TV and HTV2 will bring the show to audiences in Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam respectively, and distribution agreements have been reached with local TV channels and platforms in other Asian markets including Japan, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia. Reception to the drama outside of Asia has also been encouraging, the hit drama has already accumulated over 1 million views per episode on international streaming platforms, the most views attained by any Chinese language drama this year.

To make "Story of Yanxi Palace" accessible to non-Chinese speakers, subtitles will be added to the show in many markets, with versions dubbed in multiple languages due for release in the second half of this year.
