U.S. Senator Mark Pryor Staff to Lead Keynote Talk at WISPAmerica 2014

WISPAmerica, an annual conference and tradeshow dedicated to the Wireless Internet Service Provider industry, today announced that an aide in U.S. Senator Mark Pryors office, Hank Kilgore, will lead a keynote panel of Senate and House staffers from key committees at the conference on Wednesday, March 26, 2013. The conference will be held from Monday, March 24 27, 2014 at the Marriott Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Wednesday lunch panel titled A View from the Hill: A Discussion on Broadband Policy, will include House staffers from the Energy and Commerce Committee, Chaired by Fred Upton, Michigan Representative and Senate staffers from The Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet, Chaired by Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor. Both the House and Senate from these key committees are responsible for oversight of the fixed wireless industry.
The Energy and Commerce Committee is the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has responsibility for the nation's telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health research, environmental quality, energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce. In addition, the Committee oversees multiple cabinet-level Departments including the Federal Communications Commission.
The Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet has jurisdiction over legislation, Congressional action, and other matters relating to communications. The Subcommittee also is responsible for oversight of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) at the Department of Commerce.
During Wednesdays keynote, the Panel will discuss issues of particular interest and relevance to the Wireless Internet Service Provider industry include E-Rate, USF/CAF, upcoming modifications to the Telecommunications Act and RUS funding, among others.
