Memnon Chooses Front Porch Digital's SAMMAsolo(R) for European Archiving Service
Pan-European Service Provider is Largest European SAMMAsolo User
October 04, 2011 --
Based in Brussels and Liège, Memnon provides services to broadcasters, international institutions, national libraries and archives, and museums throughout the European continent and Africa. To meet the SONUMA project schedule, eight SAMMAsolo units have been integrated with Memnon's existing workflow and technologies, including IPI Manager.
"As a provider of high-value and high-volume migration services, Memnon is constantly searching for the best solutions for our customers," said Michel Merten, CEO of Memnon. "By adding eight SAMMAsolo units to our existing workflow and different tools for the SONUMA project, we have created an extremely efficient process that is capable of combining many of the stages of migration into one pass. This efficiency was also emphasized by integrating SAMMA into Memnon's internal Production Asset Management system.
A component of Front Porch Digital's end-to-end SAMMA system, SAMMAsolo simultaneously creates multiple digital files, including proxy, for quick review; mezzanine, variations for most editing and playout applications; and a lossless preservation quality archive in JPEG2000. There is broad flexibility in creating output migration templates, selecting the specific formats that address the workflows in that specific environment, or specifically for a particular library of tapes. An unlimited number of templates can be created and used across multiple migration projects.
"Memnon is the largest European customer to date for SAMMAsolo, and a benchmark reference for the SAMMA migration technology," said Rino Petricola, Front Porch Digital senior vice president and managing director. "The cultural and commercial value of the national and international archives being entrusted to organizations like Memnon cannot be overstated, so we are very proud that SAMMAsolo has been selected and integrated within Memnon's production workflow."
