Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan on T-Mobile Network Test Drive with iPhone

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 19, 2014

T-Mobile announced they will let customers test their network with a free trial of an iPhone 5S for 7 days, says WirelessWeek, June 18.

Industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

T-Mobile invited Jeff Kagan to attend their event in Seattle on the same day that Amazon.com announced their entry into the smartphone business with their Fire Phone.

T-Mobile came up with an incredible idea. Give customers the chance to test drive their network with an Apple iPhone and see the quality for themselves. This is a very powerful idea and if customers are happy with what they have experienced, will likely be very successful as a marketing effort, says Wireless Analyst Jeff Kagan.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere has been screaming his lungs out over the last year trying to get on everyones radar that they are back. Now he is putting his money where his mouth is. He is giving customers a chance to test drive the T-Mobile network with an iPhone. He says many people dont realize that T-Mobile offers iPhones. That is a sign there is still plenty for T-Mobile to do in a hotly competitive marketplace, says Principal analyst Kagan.

T-Mobile was crashing and burning for several years until about a year and a half ago. They changed CEOs and hired Legere. He gave the company a new strategy which has been successful to date.

Legere has been working hard to redefine T-Mobile in the marketplace from bottom of the barrel to a real competitor, and he has been successful to date. T-Mobile is growing once again. They are still a very small competitor compared to AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless, but they are growing and thats good news at this point, says Technology analyst Kagan.

It looks like T-Mobile not only wants to heal and grow their own company, but they also want to change the industry at the same time. The potential merger with Sprint could help them do just that. A merger between Sprint and T-Mobile would create a much larger and stronger number three competitor behind AT&T and Verizon, says Tech analyst Kagan.

After Softbank and Sprint are finished updating the network, they say it will be very different and allow them to offer more services in new ways. Seeing how successful T-Mobile has been during the last year, if Sprint is just as successful, we could be about to see some serious competitive activity going forward, says Kagan.

And in a world which is highly competitive, the customer always wins, says Kagan.
