Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan on Sprint T-Mobile Merger Off, CEO Changes and Whats Next

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 06, 2014

Sprint announced today, Aug 6 their new CEO Marcelo Claure.

It is reported today that Sprint is no longer pursuing a merger with T-Mobile.

Industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

We should look at this as the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next at Sprint. Just like with any good novel, there are always twists and turns and we really dont know whats coming next. However as we watch, we all eagerly anticipate an exciting new growth chapter at Sprint. Says Wireless analyst Kagan.

As Sprint starts this next chapter they will be in strong shape. They have a new network and with that I can imagine new growth strategies coming from both CEO Marcelo Claure and Masayoshi Son, CEO of Softbank. The new Sprint may look very different compared with the old Sprint. It will be very interesting and exciting to watch Sprint rebuild and grow once again. Says Technology analyst Kagan.

Now its up to Marcelo Claure and Masayoshi Son to set Sprint on the next growth wave. Says Kagan.

Sprint walking away from this T-Mobile merger was what regulators wanted. Regulators want four wireless carriers. Thats the same argument they made when AT&T tried to acquire T-Mobile a few years ago. Says Tech analyst Kagan.

I dont know much about the new CEO Marcelo Claure, but am looking forward to getting to know him and watching him take Sprint on its next growth wave. We may start to see Sprint grow in new areas going forward. The wireless industry is continually changing and looks very different from ten years ago. Ten years ago we didnt even have smartphones like Apple iPhone, Google Android or Samsung Galaxy. And ten years from now the industry will look different again, full of new opportunities. This is what I expect to see Sprint growing toward. Says Principal analyst Kagan.

Dan Hesse, current CEO of Sprint has done a remarkable job since arriving in 2007. Sprint was crashing and burning and Hesse saved the company. He also lead Sprint through the network rebuild during the last year or so. Now that the network rebuild is nearing completion, Hesse can be credited with a heroic rebuild. He gave Sprint the strength to move ahead and prepare for the next chapter. Says Kagan.

Marcelo Claure founded Brightstar which is a wireless company which sold a majority state to Softbank last year. Claure joined the Sprint board in January.
