Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan Says Congrats to AT&T and Volvo Connected Cars

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 16, 2014

Today AT&T announced a new agreement with Volvo Cars to connect future models in the US and Canada, says this press release, April 16.

Industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

We have watched the wireless industry explode with growth over the last few decades. Every few years a new area for growth seems to open up. A new area for growth is opening up right now as the automotive industry adopts wireless technology in their vehicles. Says Wireless analyst Jeff Kagan.

This is a huge new opportunity for both AT&T, AT&T Mobility and Volvo Cars. However if you pull the camera back you can see this as a growing industry opportunity. AT&T is on the forefront of becoming a key wireless partner for the automotive industry. Says Tech analyst Kagan.

With this deal, AT&T is going to power Volvos US 2015 model year connected car solution with Sensus Connect. This is high speed wireless connectivity. Volvo customers in the US and Canada will also have access to Volvo On Call, which is a service allowing remote access to car functions and an emergency crash notification service.

Volvo plans to start enabling cars with AT&T on-board for sale during this coming summer.

AT&T, a telematics leader already providers a variety of vehicle solutions to automobile manufacturers world wide. Volvo will use AT&T Single SIM platform for coverage in the US and Canada.

AT&T Connected Car also works with GM with OnStar, Audi, Telsa Motors, Volkswagen,

This is the very early stages of an enormous growth opportunity both for AT&T and the wireless industry in general, and for the automakers themselves. Says Kagan.
