At the start of a new round in their long-running patent feud, Apple Inc., Tuesday accused Samsung Electronics Co. of copying its breakthrough iPhone to remain competitive, while Samsung said it is being targeted as a proxy for Apple's rivalry with Google Inc. Opening statements in Apple's patent-infringement suit against Samsung, echoed a previous clash between Apple and Samsung in the same courtroom, in 2012 where Samsung was found to have infringed on Apple patents and ordered to pay $930 million dollars. Samsung is appealing the decision. In the new case, Apple is suing Samsung for infringing on five of its software patents and is seeking damages of more than $2 billion.
