Arium Offers Code Execution Trace and Additional Development Board Support Packages

February 08, 2012 --

TUSTIN, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/12 -- Arium today announced support for ARM Cortex™ Embedded Trace Buffer (ETB) on several state-of-the-art reference boards. ETB allows engineers to trace backwards through their code using Arium's LC-500S hardware-assisted debugger at a fraction of the cost of a full-fledged Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETM) solution. The Arium SourcePoint™ debugger has support for multi-core processors, which allows developers to switch seamlessly between cores within the same debug GUI. Linux OS-Awareness is another key feature supported by SourcePoint, allowing engineers to debug all aspects of embedded Linux. The boot ROM, Linux Kernel, installable drivers, and application threads can all be debugged from the same intuitive debug interface. The list of new boards supporting these features is as follows:

  • BeagleBoard-xM, with an ARM Cortex™-A8 (TI OMAP™ 3530)
  • Freescale™ i.MX53 Quick Start Board, with an ARM Cortex™-A8
  • NovTech's NOVPEK i.MX53x Platform Evaluation Kit, with an ARM Cortex™-A8
  • Digi® ConnectCore® design, with an ARM Cortex™-A8
  • PandaBoard ES, with a dual-core ARM Cortex™-A9 (TI OMAP 4660)
  • ST Micro Discovery Boards, with ARM Cortex™-M3 and M4 cores

Having the ability to immediately debug these boards with no configuration required by the user saves precious time and money. "Helping our customers easily adapt to various targets is a key initiative at Arium," said Larry Traylor, CEO of Arium. "We strive to provide best-in-class solutions whenever possible."
